1.0Introduction

Tennis is looking for a passionate and curious Junior User Experience Design (UXD) Consultant to join our growing team.

We are interested in hearing from candidates pursuing user experience design within a startup environment in design and technology. The ideal candidate will have a broad interest in design and strategy and an innate curiosity about how design and technology can create compelling experiences for users and businesses. Our office is located in central downtown Toronto. Currently, we operate remotely with the ability to have smaller groups within our team come into the office. We connect in person multiple times monthly, either through team or client events.

Job Description

As a junior, you are immersed in the day-to-day, focused on finishing assigned tasks, but looking up to learning. You would be responsible for learning and executing the processes outlined by senior team members. You are working towards understanding the role and the scope and developing ideas.

2.0Work Quality

Product Documentation

  • Product Requirements Document (PRD) writing for entry level scope projects.
  • Functional Specifications Document (FSD) writing for entry level scope projects.

UX/UI

  • Focus on learning and iterating, getting a feel for the design system, tools, and workflows at Tennis. Junior level UX/UI Prototype Phase production for efficiency and quality standards at Tennis. Junior level results in high error rate, low speed of execution with many iterations, accuracy to documented specifications often with the oversight of an intermediate or senior with frequent check-ins.

Accountability

  • Accountable for completing prototyping and documentation on time for review by senior resources.

Promise

  • Familiarity with how to retain our promise of Quality and striving to meet that promise.

Purposeful and Pragmatic

  • Familiarizing yourself with Tennis guidelines/standards for executing to business objectives and technical specifications within the scope/time limitations of projects. Deliver what is necessary and avoid over-engineering or design debt. It is understood that you may require more iterations at the junior level, and iterating is a must have for this level.

Quality Assurance

  • Conduct quality assurance on built products and designs and submit reports to managers or higher.

3.0Subject Matter Expertise

Developing and harnessing comprehensive expertise in our domain, particularly in solution selling, UX/UI, Digital, and Web Technologies to enhance the quality and value of Tennis service offerings.

Research

  • Assist with content related process work such as content inventory and DAKI templates.
  • Understanding of business requirements as they apply to the project in the strategic phases of the project for entry level projects.
  • Translate workshop materials into the standard Tennis templates for review and approval by senior staff.
  • Follow best practices of well known and existing design patterns for UX/UI.
  • Ask questions about business, operations, and management terminology.

4.0Collaboration

The ability to work towards team and company goals in a supporting and nurturing way. Encourage empathy while enriching company knowledge and understanding between peers and partners.

Feedback

  • Participates in internal feedback requests.

Workload and Timelines

  • Speaking up about workload issues that pertains directly to your work.
  • Flagging potential issues on entry level scope projects with budgets or when you think things are going to be late. Must be proactive in knowing when a deadline will be missed and should be escalated.
  • Directing, attending, or delivering technical hand-offs of entry level scope projects with the support of senior staff.

5.0Process Management

The ability to learn Tennis systems and processes and apply your own approach to your prospecting methodology.

Project Workflows

  • Attend and support the delivery of HOLO workshops.
  • Learning the workflow principles and terminology.
  • Learning and following the process and offering feedback where improvements could be made, but for the most part the role is about learning.
  • Attending client kick-off meetings.

Promise

Reporting and Tracking

  • Getting familiar with our project management tools and keeping project documentation up to date. Ensuring weekly notes are added by end of the week.

6.0Client Care

The ability to show empathy and put the client's interests first. Understand the client's needs and can give/receive feedback and solutions.

  • Initiate or request meetings with internal or external teams in the event that you think a meeting is required.

Communication and Meetings

  • Must be capable of taking ad hoc calls if requested by client in the event that other senior staff are not present to facilitate the call. If the ad hoc call is explicitly outside of your expertise then the call should be escalated. If the call is something regarding production that you are able to easily answer, you must take that call in absence of more senior guidance.

Client Relationships

  • Bring a level of professionalism and Tennis values to all client facing interactions.

7.0Business Development

The ability to meet individual and company financial goals. Find, scope, and secure new project work and revenue, as well as foster new business with current and past clients.

Proposals and Presentations

  • Proposal and presentation assets or layouts for sales materials.
  • Offer content creation ideas that would assist in marketing initiatives. You are not required to execute on the ideas. Creation of social media and submissions assets for various platforms.

8.0Details

The ability to meet activity metrics and goals. Focused outreach, strategy, emails, phone calls, identifying opportunities, and learning. We intend to coach along the entire learning path and help bridge that gap between BDR levels 1 and 2 at the 12-month mark.

  • Experience with Figma
  • Familiarity with Miro
  • Entry level skills with spreadsheets, charting, and formulas
  • Experience with Maze or other user testing tools

  • Functional French speaking ability
